A new and different approach to investing from Tom Gardner Dear Investor, I've just written a new special report, "3 Hidden Gems Ready to Run," that gives you the names of three "hidden gem" stocks that I believe will generate outstanding returns. You can read it immediately, absolutely FREE, when you click here <http://www.fool.com/m.asp?i=996600&u=124272799> now. By "hidden gems," I mean small-cap stocks, overlooked by Wall Street and undervalued by the market, that are poised to significantly outperform the S&P 500. The hidden gems I find typically feature healthy assets, little or no debt, high returns on equity, a low price multiple, and solid growth in free cash flow. Because their market capitalization is less than $2 billion, the institutional investors have not yet bought up these companies in bulk. In time, they will. When they do, these stocks will rise dramatically. The three companies I recommend to you right now in my new special report include: ** HIDDEN GEM #1-an upstart provider of bundled local and long-distance telephone services with zero debt, $50 million in free cash flow, and a fast-growing subscriber base. This Gem just benefited from a favorable FCC ruling and has risen 50% since my recommendation three months ago. Yet I'm still looking for a double from here. ** HIDDEN GEM #2-a company that provides writable DVD technology for commercial applications. The balance sheet is pristine, the cash flow is a dream, yet the company is too small to have yet attracted Wall Street attention. This shows great promise. ** HIDDEN GEM #3-although this provider of software for electronic medical recordkeeping has gained 95% since I first recommended it, its market is largely untapped. Management is top notch, and I think it'll far outpace the market from here. Hello. My name is Tom Gardner. Together with my brother David, I started The Motley Fool, the preferred online source of financial insight serving more than 2 million investors. Our exclusive newsletter services are among the fastest growing in the history of the industry. Why? Because we look for well-run companies that large institutions have yet to glom onto. Here are some of the returns of stock recommendations I've made for our readers in the past eighteen months -- just a sampling: - 95% profit on Quality Systems. - 62% profit on Corporate Executive Board. - 47% gain on Kensey Nash. - 71% gain on Sanderson Farms. - 54% profit on Affiliated Managers Group. - 30% profit on Moody's. - 58% gain on Mid Atlantic Medical. According to a study by Ibbotson Associates, the esteemed Chicago research firm that tracks the performance of stocks and mutual funds, small-cap stocks, like our hidden gems, outperformed blue chips from 1925 to 1996 an average of 18.8% annually. Yet I plan to do better than the average small cap, by finding truly great unknown companies that generate excess cash and are run by honest managers. Want to profit from my "hidden gems?" <http://g.fool.com/art/new/email/hg/hg_em_header_01.gif> A new and different approach to investing from Tom Gardner Dear Investor: Hi. Tom Gardner from The Motley Fool here. I'm dropping you a quick e-mail to make sure you got - and read -- the special report you asked me to send you, " 3 Hidden Gems Ready to Run <http://www.fool.com/m.asp?i=996543&u=124272799> ." I'm incredibly excited about my new stock advisory, "Hidden Gems" - and especially the 3 hidden-gem stocks I recommend in your free report. So enthusiastic, in fact, that I want to give "Hidden Gems" to you FREE for 30 days. To accept, just click here <http://www.fool.com/m.asp?i=996544&u=124272799> now. Leaves blue chip companies in the dust Of all The Motley Fool services, only "hidden gems" focuses 100% on what I think are the most exciting companies for sale today: small caps stocks. Each day we screen the 13,000 or so publicly traded companies, focusing only on those with a market capitalization under $2 billion. Out of the group, we find the two to five of these small caps that are poised to accelerate returns for you, and beat the market substantially. For example, in July, I told my "Hidden Gems" subscribers to buy Talk America, a fast-growth telecommunications provider. I like the fact that Talk America has $47 million in free cash flow.has accelerating growth rates of sales and earnings...and has its own network, virtually eliminating reliance on AT&T. {Hidden Gems, July 2003 Issue, p. 2} In the three months since I recommended it, Talk America had already posted a 36% gain. But it's not too late to get in; there's lots more growth ahead for Talk America and the 6 other companies present in my "Hidden Gems" portfolio. To get the current issue FREE, click here <http://www.fool.com/m.asp?i=996545&u=124272799> now. Not your father's small cap stocks As exciting as small-cap stocks are, you can't just buy any one of them. In fact, fewer than 1% of small caps fit the criteria that allow them to be added to the "Hidden Gems" portfolio. You will learn exactly that criteria by becoming a member of the service. The hidden gems I find typically have healthy assets, little or no debt, high returns on equity, a low price multiple, and solid growth in free cash flow. And if the company has strong insider ownership and buying, and shareholder-friendly management, that's icing on the cake. That's why we got so excited when we came across Pegasystems, a maker of Business Process Management (BPM) software. {Hidden Gems, July 2003 Issue, p. 4} It isn't often that you find a software company with nearly $100 million in sales, $63 million in cash, and $22 million in trailing 12-month free cash flow, all packed into a market cap of only $220 million. Subtracting its cash balance, Pegasystem's enterprise value is $158 million - just 7 times free cash flow. To make a long story short: A few weeks ago, we recommended Pegasystems to "Hidden Gems" readers. It's beating the market, but I think it has plenty of returns still ahead for investors. Each issue of "Hidden Gems" updates you on all our positions, including Talk America and Pegasystems, for as long as we hold them. No stocks have greater growth potential than my "Hidden Gem" small caps. A big company like GE or Microsoft already has most of its greatest growth behind it. Could you imagine IBM, for example, trying to double its sales in a year? That's an unrealistic goal for a blue chip. But totally achievable for a small cap whose revenues are in the tens of millions instead of the billions. You already have my top 3 "Hidden Gem" picks in my free report, "3 Hidden Gems Ready to Run." (If not, see my P.S. immediately.) But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Each month, my new advisory "Hidden Gems" brings you my latest small-cap winner...updates on our "Hidden Gems" portfolio...promising small-cap stocks to watch...buy and sell recommendations...and more. <http://g.fool.com/art/new/email/hg/hg_em_header_01.gif> A new and different approach to investing from Tom Gardner Dear Investor: Hi. Tom Gardner from The Motley Fool here again. I wanted to drop you a quick note to remind you that my offer of a FREE 30-day trial <http://www.fool.com/m.asp?i=996558&u=124272799> to my new small-cap stock advisory, "Hidden Gems," is about to expire. Even if most of your portfolio is blue chips, you can boost your overall return, without taking on big risks, by adding a few of my choice small-cap gems to your holdings. For your FREE 30-day trial, click here <http://www.fool.com/m.asp?i=996559&u=124272799> now. Do you need to be in small cap stocks? Why should even ultra-conservative investors put at least 10% of their portfolio into my hidden-gem small cap stocks? Because small caps stocks are the ONLY category of stocks to continually outperform blue chip companies over the long term. In historical studies that track stock performance from 1925 to 1996, small caps posted average annual returns of 12.6% vs. 10.6% for large-cap stocks. At these rates, $10,000 invested in small caps would have grown to $45 million 71 years later. But that same $10,000 invested in the large caps would be worth just $13.7 million. In other words, the small cap investor became over $31 million richer than investors who went with the established darlings of Wall Street. Obviously, an additionally important conclusion to that study is that ALL of us should be investing for the long term. To start accelerating your wealth by investing in my "Hidden Gem" small cap stocks, click here <http://www.fool.com/m.asp?i=996560&u=124272799> now for a FREE 30-day trial. Outperforms the S&P 500 in both bull and bear markets Small caps are routinely ignored by the big institutional investors. That's why I call them "hidden" gems. With their small market capitalizations, these "hidden gems" are just too tiny to attract the attention of the big institutional investors. Wall Street analysts also ignore small-caps, because they have a vested interest in selling the shares of the large corporations they underwrite. This is exactly what legendary investor Peter Lynch looked for -- companies with no Wall Street analysts yet following them. As a result, the prices of my hidden gems stay low while their businesses generate cash profits. We just wait for them to be snapped up by the big guys...because eventually big institutional investors will buy into great businesses. We're already up 19% on Hooker...35% on Talk America...37% on Sportsman's Guide. My small cap picks are well ahead of the S&P 500. And it is my stated aim to significantly outperform the S&P 500 over three year periods. Just click here <http://www.fool.com/m.asp?i=996561&u=124272799> to try "Hidden Gems" FREE for 30 days. Get "Hidden Gems" FREE for 30 days! Each month, my new advisory "Hidden Gems" brings you my latest small-cap winners - tiny companies poised for explosive growth. Right now, we're currently recommending: --A SMALL FURNITURE MANUFACTURER founded all the way back in 1924, run by the family, and with combined insider and employee ownership over 50%. I am looking for the stock to double from $26 to $52 per share over the next 36 months. {Hidden Gems, August 2003 Issue, p. 2} --A FOOTWEAR COMPANY that's an incredible dirt-cheap bargain. At less than $14, the stock trades at roughly 11 times estimated 2003 earnings and a single-digit multiple to free cash flow. {Hidden Gems, August 2003 Issue, p. 4} --A TOY COMPANY whose share price has unfairly been beaten down by negative market sentiment over some management mistakes that took place in the 1990s. Valuation is just 6 times free cash flow - astonishingly low for branded consumer products. {Hidden Gems, June 2003 Issue, p. 5} It's not too late to get in on these investments! You'll find all of our current "Hidden Gems" portfolio holdings in The Scorecard, published in every issue. I'll find for you undervalued, overlooked small companies that, because of their modest size, Wall Street has ignored. Their prices haven't been bid up yet, giving us some incredible bargains. In July, we added Talk America to the "Hidden Gems" portfolio, a small company that is generating excellent profits while it eliminates its debt and buys back its own shares. Insiders are large owners of the stock. And Talk America has risen more than 35% in the last three months. I think there is plenty more upside from here, as well.
