Although it’s been ages since I read the bible and I’ve not read the book to which you refer, I recall a good deal of violence and sex and woman hating and abuse in the former. It was quite a turn off to me as a child and a woman. I can’t imagine anything being too much more offensive. But one can always hide something away if they fear for their kids. I mean, isn’t that what parents are sort of for?

Clearly a piece of viral marketing which will certainly work for a subset of the kind of people I would not want to share a hotel with!
And there is the issue – it not only promotes – it polarizes opinion which is always good for viral spread but finally it qualifies the type of customer who will respond positively. (and scare the rest of us away!)

Since I live in england, perhaps you can tell me where to avoid!

As for the US hotels, the last time I went to San Diego (the hardrock), they did not even have a kettle in the room! – So civilization has certainly yet to spread that far, so maybe both bibles and porn are beyond them.

I never even noticed the bibles in hotel rooms, if I do, reading a passage takes me to sleep sooner. An offering of erotica is a welcome option. You know, to give options to the guests. The moralizing with the bible has been overtaken by time. It puts many people off now.

Kudos to them. Quite honestly I’m sick of having christianity shoved down my throat at all sides. If you want to be a christian, then be a christian to your hearts desire but know that most of the world are not christians. In fact, between Buddhists and Muslims, that makes up nearly 70% of the world’s religious practices. Not entirely sure why they would choose “50 shades of grey” though. I probably would have opted for Homer’s Iliad or something else actually worth reading. Just my .02.

For that matter, why not provide copies of the Torah, Koran, Bhagavad Gita, Tao Te Ching, Dhammapada, or even the Age of Reason by Thomas Paine? Maybe then we wouldn’t be so narrow minded as to assume the world revolves around one book or one belief system.

Better yet, why not let us bring our own reading materials and make our own decisions?

Disgusting really. Apparently morality does have a price. When business tosses public welfare aside in favor of personal fantasy and financial gain, it a slippery slope as to what comes next. Perhaps the concierge can double as a call girl.
